Healthy Bowl: Blueberry Banana

Everyone loves a good treat.

What if I told you that you could have a super delicious treat EVERY SINGLE DAY, and that this treat wouldn’t have a negative impact on your fitness or diet goals? That instead, the opposite would happen…that your health would benefit from it. Would you be excited? That’d be super cool, right?

It’s important to treat yourself. And I don’t think that a treat should happen only once a month or once a week – a special treat should happen every day!
A lot of people think of food-treats when they think of treats, but a treat can also be a movie, or a new accessory, or a nice massage. Movies, accessories and massages can be a little on the spendy side…so having those every day, is not realistic. A food item, however, is more affordable and accessible, so this can definitely be your go-to for an every day treat!

Most of us picture cake, cookies and candy when we think of a food-treat. The problem is, having these every day would not only cause us to gain unwanted pounds, but they could also hurt our teeth and bring some bad health issues down the road. Our bodies tend to react negatively to processed sugars and empty carbs, so let’s stay far away from those types of treats shall we? The food-treat I have un mind, is just as delicious (if not more) and it can actually help your health!

In my household we call this super special treat the “healthy bowl”. It describes it perfectly. It’s health in a bowl. Our Healthy Bowls have unlimited variations, and this makes them that much more special! We hardly ever enjoy it the same way; we love switching it up. The Healthy Bowl consists of frozen blended fruit (you can blend frozen fruit by itself, or blend it along with nut butters, natural sweeteners — like honey or maple syrup — or add on various extracts) and fun little toppings to dress it up and add some crunch to it. That is the basis of it. Super simple. Super clean. Super easy to digest. Super affordable. Super fast to put together. Doesn’t it sound perfect? Well, that’s because it is! The combinations of blended fruits you can do per bowl are unlimited…and YOU get to decide what that combination gets to be, based on what you’re feeling like having that day.

I will be posting many “Healthy Bowl” recipes for you from here on out. That way, you can get some help with ideas as to how to enjoy your daily treat! Today, we’ll start with a very basic recipe — but it just happens to be one of my favorites. Sometimes simple is best. Simple can go a really long way.

Enjoy every spoonful of this guilt-free treat. Be prepared to make extras — your family will love it as much as you will!
